Curren$y and Styles P drop a sick new mixtape that knocks. Although #The1st28 is only five songs long what do you expect? The Hot Spitta just dropped Heretwo weeks ago, he is a busy dude. The title of the EP signifies the first 28 grams the two smoked together while chillin’ and recording. Smoking a whole Oz. in one sitting? Goddamn, I don’t understand how the two stay conscious and still spit ill rhymes after smoking that much- but more respect to it! SP and Curren$y’s flows are not similar at all but when the two weed lovers collabed on this dope new mixtape it was the best Highdea to ever hit hip hop. And the production for the EP is soothingly chill, filled with beats that knock as well as beats that make you want to just sit back, relax, and chief. So go cop #The1st28 EP here now, and check out my favorite track “Go” feat. Daz below:
France’s Martin Solveig and New York based A-Trak team up for this incredible remix.. These guys are both international DJ’s riding the EDM craze right now. I mean A-Trak was on last month’s cover of Billboard magazine alongside Skrillex and Diplo. Anyway, this is a traditional dance track with a fat kick drum and girly vocals. In it A-trak shows us why he has won 5 world DJ championships. The drop is incredible.
The white Rick Ross goes in over the classic Peter Bjorn and John song “Nothing To Worry About“. Dope verse, Action Bronson is a cool dude with a solid flow and he is starting to gain fame by continuously putting out above average, hyphy songs. Listen below, download the track here.
Kane is in the building! The producer of “Right Above It” and “Steady Mobbin’” provides a sexy beat for this new Drama track. The track features the biggest names from the ATL; Jeezy comes through with the usual Southern drawl, while T.I. and Luda provide some pretty entertaining verses. Future does a great job on the hook; this song is perfect for the club or party. Peep it below.
At first glance, this project honestly looked really lame to me. Not the biggest fan of Bruce Springsteen besides a few classics, and Rick Ross is nothing special to me either (Every time he says “Huhh” it sounds like hes getting up off a couch). But after listening to this perfectly produced mixtape done by Jonathan Lee I was taken back. The creative instrumentals on this mixtape are really something else, the way he built up the intro to Ross’s verse for “I’m On One” on the track “Born To Run” was epic. I am really diggin’ Jonathan Lee’s Boss vs. Boss (Rick Ross vs Bruce Springsteen) mixtape, it has a unique style of sampling done for all the instrumentals and the Bawss‘s verses mash together perfectly with the emotional, complex beats. Check out the mixtape in its entirety on his Soundcloud, and download it here. Check out “Born To Run” off Jonathan Lee’s Boss vs Boss (Rick Ross vs Bruce Springsteen) mixtape below:
Logic is starting to gain attention by the masses, he released a music video for “The Spotlight” last week and said he wouldn’t give a download link until the video reached 100k views. Now at 151,256 views he gave away the download link to all his fans. “The Spotlight” is a tight track filled with raw lyrical wordplay and a classic instrumental (Justice‘s “D.A.N.C.E.” – the same track Wale went over years ago). Overall a dope new song and video for the up and comer Logic. Peep the music video below for “The Spotlight” and download the track here. Also check out his interview with XXL Magazine from earlier this month.
A dope new mix done by Justice for Annie Mac’s Radio One Show last Friday. You can definitely get a taste of some of the music they listen to in there free time/most likely some music they sample in there tracks. Was bumping it all day and they picked a wide variety of awesome songs so listen to it now, its a perfect mix to just relax and do homework too…or to just chill and listen to. Listen/download the mix below:
Damn, Madeon does it again. What is it about french people that makes them so good at producing house music? I mean you got Daft Punk, Justice, and now you got 17 year old Madeon. Madeon first made his debut with the pop culture mash up he did that went viral all over the internet. Now he brings you a completely original house track that just grooves with progressive dance synths and spectacular glitchy parts that are still somehow syncopated. There’s definitely a pop-esque to Madeon’s work and “Icarus” proves it. “Icarus” dropped on beatport today.
This joint is gonna be fire! The Hot Spitta is teaming up with the Ghost to deliver thier highly anticipated project on February 28th. Above is the newly released artwork for the disc; we got you on the tape as soon as it drops! Jetlife.
It was bound to happen sooner or later, almost all music leaks before its supposed to drop nowadays. Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius have created a unique new album, that i personally think is dope as hell. Their self-titled debut studio album WZRD will be officially released on February 28, 2012, and you should cop it on iTunes to support them, they clearly put a bunch of work into the album. Anyways, WZRD has a unique sound to it- a new sound for Cudi, filled with distorted guitar, an electronic feel, and even a some what TV on the Radio indie type feel to some tracks. Definitely a new, creative sounding rock/hip hop album. WZRD is all over the place genre wise, it has a handful of classic Cudder sounding songs, but it also has some rock ballads and other shit that i was not expecting at all. Most tracks still have the hip hop sounding drums that absolutely knock on a system to help fill out the somewhat simple guitar riffs laid down by the lonely stoner himself. Its awesome to see these two are trying out new sounds as musicians, and in my opinion WZRD is a classic new album for 2012 that will hopefully pave the road for a new sound for up and comers. I already know this album will get negative feedback- whenever an artist decides to switch up their “original” sound, which for Kid Cudi was stoner/emo rap, people will hate on it immediately because their not used to it and it doesn’t sound like there old tough shit. But fuck that noise, this album deserves positive publicity it has an awesome new sound for Cudi and i like it a lot so fuck the critics, support Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius and buy the album NOW. Give this album a chance, I’ve learned over the years of being a Kid Cudi fan that his music honestly does get better over time, the more you listen the better it gets. Listen to a couple of my favorite tracks off the album below:
