It was bound to happen sooner or later, almost all music leaks before its supposed to drop nowadays. Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius have created a unique new album, that i personally think is dope as hell. Their self-titled debut studio album WZRD will be officially released on February 28, 2012, and you should cop it on iTunes to support them, they clearly put a bunch of work into the album. Anyways, WZRD has a unique sound to it- a new sound for Cudi, filled with distorted guitar, an electronic feel, and even a some what TV on the Radio indie type feel to some tracks. Definitely a new, creative sounding rock/hip hop album. WZRD is all over the place genre wise, it has a handful of classic Cudder sounding songs, but it also has some rock ballads and other shit that i was not expecting at all. Most tracks still have the hip hop sounding drums that absolutely knock on a system to help fill out the somewhat simple guitar riffs laid down by the lonely stoner himself. Its awesome to see these two are trying out new sounds as musicians, and in my opinion WZRD is a classic new album for 2012 that will hopefully pave the road for a new sound for up and comers. I already know this album will get negative feedback- whenever an artist decides to switch up their “original” sound, which for Kid Cudi was stoner/emo rap, people will hate on it immediately because their not used to it and it doesn’t sound like there old tough shit. But fuck that noise, this album deserves positive publicity it has an awesome new sound for Cudi and i like it a lot so fuck the critics, support Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius and buy the album NOW. Give this album a chance, I’ve learned over the years of being a Kid Cudi fan that his music honestly does get better over time, the more you listen the better it gets. Listen to a couple of my favorite tracks off the album below:
