Legendary DJ, A-Trak teams up with L.A native Dillon Francis, on this upbeat collaboration entitled “Money Makin”. The song describes what EDM DJ’s are doing in the industry right now. “Money Makin’ is such a happy song. It makes me want to playfully chase around beautiful women in their underwear around a pool or on a beach or yacht or something. Oh yeah, while money is falling from the sky. The song features a catchy synth line with a little dubsteppy sounds but while maintaining a four on the floor beat. It’s very synth poppy. Almost cheesy but I think that’s what makes it sound so happy. The vocal loops are simple enough. “Money making! Money Breakin’! Money Money Making Money Taking!”. Of Course, the video has awesome party scenes. Peep it below.

Who is Empty Boy? Apparently whoever he is, he’s out there and he’s embarking on a world tour? I found this video on youtube today and it left me confused, wondering who is this Empty Boy? I did some intel and uncovered that “Empty Boy” is a single off of Ed Banger Records’ Artist “Krazy Baldhead . Check out the video that shows the “Empty Boy” logo being placed everywhere. Be ready for Empty Boy.

No Doubt has just announced their comeback with a new album dropping September 25. They don’t have a title for it yet but word on the street is that the album is mixed and ready to go. In the meantime the band will be shooting videos and rehearsing for what is most likely going to be a world tour. I for one am hella excited. Their last album “Rock Steady“ dropped in 2001 and was an instant classic. They worked with an array of producers and somehow managed to combine rock, ska, reggae, funk and just so many other styles into one entity of hella good (pun intended) tracks. I personally love how The Neptunes  helped produce that album. This time around No Doubt has teamed up with the one, the only, Major Lazer. It’s truly amazing how many people Diplo (1/2 of Major Lazer) has worked with  recently. Anyway, This album is going to be really interesting. I wonder what their sound is going to be like after all this time. The band was on a brief hiatus in the mid 2000′s when Gwen Stefani went solo. I first heard Gwen Stefani’s voice way back in the day in like elementary school and I’ve been in love with her singing ever since. She’s got to be one of the coolest chicks ever. I mean what other singer has been on a track with Sublime and was a rockstar before becoming a pop star? And now she’s going back to rockstar with the help of guitarist Tom Dumont , bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. I think they’re definitely going to tour the world after their album drops. This albums going to be fucking awesome, No Doubt. Album doesn’t drop until September but in the meantime check out some in the studio footage of their most likely single “Push And Shove” below.

50 cent was one of my favorite rappers when I was in middle school. I mean everyone loves “Get Rich or Die Tryin”. I still like some newer 50 cent every now and then but I’m not really trying to go out of my way to listen to it. Anyway I was on soundcloud today and heard this collab he just put out with 1st wave west coast OG, Snoop Dogg and female rapper Precious Paris. The beat has that dope New York 2000′s vibe. Hip hop veterans Snoop and 50 do what they do best on this track. I really hope 50 puts out more stuff like this soon.

23 year old, Asap Rocky is living the dream right now. He just played Coachella not too long ago in California and now he’s got this dope video in Paris with some help from all of his closest homies, fashion designers and fine women. I just watched the behind the scenes footage of the making of “Goldie” not to long ago and I was definitely impressed. Naked models, antique cars, weed and the Eiffel Tower. Damn, this video is balling. The video for “Goldie” also shows Asap dressed like a king chilling with his crew and of course, smoking the finest of herb. He also wears his sunglasses at night  while cruising the streets of Paris with his homie in a classic foreign car. Doesn’t get much better than that. Long Live A$AP.

Hip Hop is a masterpiece but nobody painted it all”

Damn, this movie is packed with hip hop heavyweights. The cast features all the best hip-hop producers and artists that have shaped the music that has impacted everyone and broke through to pop culture. The film was directed by hip hop legend/pioneer Ice-T . This movie is gonna be so ill. Not only does Ice-T examine and explore it as a culture but an overall movement all over the world. The cast is consisted of: Afrika Bambaataa, Big Daddy Kane, B-Real, Bun B, Chino XL, Common, DJ Premier, DMC, Doug E. Fresh, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Grandmaster Caz, Ice Cube, Ice-T, Immortal Technique, Joe Budden, Kanye West, Kool Keith, KRS-One, Lord Finesse, Lord Jamar,
Marley Marl, MC Lyte, Melle Mel, Nas, Puerto Rico, Q-Tip, Raekwon, Rakim, Ras Kass. This history making movie drops on June 15th, 2012. This is gonna win awards. Calling it right now.

The Bloody Beetroots have been making the thrashiest electro for quite some time now. All of their remixes are so fucking ill. I first heard about them through the song “Cornelius” which is a weird song but somehow is really awesome. Their first remix I heard was a sick Timbaland remix. Anyway, this time they remix  the amazing Brooklyn rapper, Theophilus London (who just recently did a track with fellow New Yorker ASAP ROCKY ). There’s been a ton of buzz surrounding Theophilus and after hearing his flow on this I can definitely see why. This remix is so ridiculously funky and chill. Sara Quinn’s vocals make for such a  dope response to Theophilus’ buttery verses over the funky futuristic sounds.  It makes me feel like I’m driving in a topless Ferarri 458 Italia through California along the coast to a bomb party… while smoking a blunt. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to day dream.

I’ve never heard of this band before tonight. My first impression of this band was through “Obedear” (don’t ask me how to pronounce it) and I immediately became a fan. The hip hoppy drums fit oh so well underneath the singer’s chilled out spacey vocals. They’ve got a super chill vibe to em. I did a little bit of research and found out that the duo hail from Canada and are consisted of members Corin Roddick and Megan James. Corin Roddick is an amazing producer and live instrumentalist while Megan James voice is incredibly hypnotizing. Their debut album “Shrines” drops on 7/24/2012. Be sure to check out Purity Ring‘s live performance of their hit “Lofticries” below.

Corin uses some sort of weird custom rig that looks pretty fucking cool.

Kanye West. One of the best producers of all time, does it again. This time he goes in on a beat he made with the 305′s very own legend, DJ Khaled. I’m hella digging this video. It depicts a mini Kanye with a hot ass blonde just chilling in the streets of what looks like either Chicago or NYC. The song itself has a dope instrumental. It’s got that G.O.O.D Music “Ni**as in Paris”/”Mercy” style that is really hot right now and of course Kanye kills it. He might even youtube it.

I just downloaded this album and it’s pretty fucking ill. The first track immediately caught my attention. “Celestial Safari” sounds like something out of the Bronx from 1989 not like something out of 2012 Orlando. Needless to say, it’s some dope ass hip hop. From there it goes to “Nightmare” featuring the em cee, Michael Suess. He is just a morbid motherfucker with a sick flow. My favorite track on this album was “Dream Sequence”. It totally reminds me of a RZA beat. RIP ODB. I hope they bring him back hologram style like they did Tupac. Anyway, this album is available here. Name your price and be sure to like GRANT  on Facebook.
