Collaboration

The Bloody Beetroots have been making the thrashiest electro for quite some time now. All of their remixes are so fucking ill. I first heard about them through the song “Cornelius” which is a weird song but somehow is really awesome. Their first remix I heard was a sick Timbaland remix. Anyway, this time they remix  the amazing Brooklyn rapper, Theophilus London (who just recently did a track with fellow New Yorker ASAP ROCKY ). There’s been a ton of buzz surrounding Theophilus and after hearing his flow on this I can definitely see why. This remix is so ridiculously funky and chill. Sara Quinn’s vocals make for such a  dope response to Theophilus’ buttery verses over the funky futuristic sounds.  It makes me feel like I’m driving in a topless Ferarri 458 Italia through California along the coast to a bomb party… while smoking a blunt. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to day dream.

William Bevan better known as Burial, along side of Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet are no strangers to electronic music. Burial released his critically acclaimed debut album in 2006 but it wasn’t until 2008 that it was noticed and praised. Four Tet has been making music for over a decade. He was in the post rock band Fridge before he became a solo artist under the name “Four Tet”. So now back to their collaboration “Nova”. “Nova” is a really soothing instrumental with reverbed vocal snippets that just take you some place else. I would love to hear this sampled in a hip hop track. I hope we can expect collaborations from these too. Hear the chillness for yourself.

Wow, was not expecting this. Sick new song by three artists that i really like a lot. The Gorillaz start off the song with their typical sound; a simple yet perfect instrumental filled with awesome vocals done by Blur‘s lead singer (Yes, he is the singer for Gorillaz if you hadn’t already known), next up is James Murphy, although he doesn’t really stick out in this track he really balances it out-his music in LCD Soundsystem is obviously much more in your face/ out there but i like what he brought to the table for this song. Saving the best for last; Andre 3000 kills his verse with dope lyrical wordplay as always. Andre 3000 is a lyrical god, he always has some ill shit to say. I just hope Outkast actually does come out with a new album in 2012 after hearing the “hint” that they might at the end of this song. Andre is one of those artists I could never get sick of, hes such a unique individual. Anyways, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a music video for “DoYaThing”, which Converse will release next Wednesday. Until then, listen to the catchy song below, and download it here

PS: The fact Big Boi supports his boy still is cool as fuck to me, and possibly hints that they may actually be re-uniting for the new album this year? We can only hope!

For one, I’m hella digging this collaboration. Every hip hop head and stoner loves Cypress Hill. They killed it in the 90′s and are still doing shit. It’s awesome to see UK dubstep phenomenon Rusko (who lives in L.A now) hook up with the hip hop icons. They teamed up to do 1 track and ended up doing 5. Definitely reppin’ L.A well by bringing back that weed and West Coast feel. Now the video for “Roll It Light” doesn’t officially drop ’til Monday but you can peep the behind the scenes preview of it here.  Check back here on Monday for the full video and have a good weekend all you music fans.

Update: Trippy new visuals just dropped for the video, dope as hell!

Without a doubt, one of the most interesting collaborations of 2011 was keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robbie Krieger, and drummer John Densmore,  better known as The Doors, with dubstep producer Skrillex. The Doors are fucking awesome. I could write an entire book on The Doors but that would be beside the point. Anyway, the original rockers teamed up with young Skrillex to record a breakthrough track called “Breakin’ A Sweat” for the Hyundai sponsored Regeneration Music Project. One of Skrillex’s friends, (who’s even younger then him), Anton Zaslavski aka Zedd just released a preview to his remix of “Breakin A Sweat”. Zedd’s remix is an awesome twist to the history making original. It features his signature resonated bass line with a fat kick  that just overall melts face.  Kudos to Zedd.

“In My Mind” is a catchy progressive house anthem with melodic vocals that will definitely get stuck in your mind. Delivered to you by no other then Swedish House Mafia‘s Axwell.  This remix is sparking all over the internet right now as it was just debuted on Pete Tong‘s Radio 1, just like anything else those house producing superstar Swedes do. This track at a festival is gonna be completely, absolutely tremendous. It’s official release on Axtone will be this Monday.

Josh Gard, better known as the electronic music producer Figure just released this hard hitting remix to an original track by Wiz that some haven’t heard in a minute and most have never even heard. The track also features the dope but lesser known rapper, XV.  It’s nice to see, I mean, hear sick rhymes over dubstep beats. I can definitely see more fusions like this being club bangers this year. Best part about the Gobstopper remix is that it’s free here.

One of the biggest collaborations for the EDM world in 2011 was Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party. Both super producer groups have had tremendous success and all that has led up to their killer tune “Antidote“. There’s a version with vocals but I personally prefer the instrumental. If you haven’t seen the video it’s a must watch. I won’t say too much about the details but it’s pretty much a scene out of an action movie. It’s definitely one of the most controversial and risqué videos out there today. It’s badass. The Prodigy influences can be found in this hard hitting banger. Anyway, Antidote and the remixes can be purchased here.
