Rock

After months without releasing music, Passion Pit comes back with a upbeat, catchy, electronic track with feel good MGMT like vibes. The poppy synths fit perfectly with Michael Angelakos vocals on the track. July 24th is the set date for Passion Pit’s second album, Gossamer, to drop and if it sounds like “Take A Walk” it is bound to do as well as their first album. Listen to Passion Pit’s “Take A Walk” below, and be ready for their second album Gossamer to drop on July 24th!

No Doubt has just announced their comeback with a new album dropping September 25. They don’t have a title for it yet but word on the street is that the album is mixed and ready to go. In the meantime the band will be shooting videos and rehearsing for what is most likely going to be a world tour. I for one am hella excited. Their last album “Rock Steady“ dropped in 2001 and was an instant classic. They worked with an array of producers and somehow managed to combine rock, ska, reggae, funk and just so many other styles into one entity of hella good (pun intended) tracks. I personally love how The Neptunes  helped produce that album. This time around No Doubt has teamed up with the one, the only, Major Lazer. It’s truly amazing how many people Diplo (1/2 of Major Lazer) has worked with  recently. Anyway, This album is going to be really interesting. I wonder what their sound is going to be like after all this time. The band was on a brief hiatus in the mid 2000′s when Gwen Stefani went solo. I first heard Gwen Stefani’s voice way back in the day in like elementary school and I’ve been in love with her singing ever since. She’s got to be one of the coolest chicks ever. I mean what other singer has been on a track with Sublime and was a rockstar before becoming a pop star? And now she’s going back to rockstar with the help of guitarist Tom Dumont , bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. I think they’re definitely going to tour the world after their album drops. This albums going to be fucking awesome, No Doubt. Album doesn’t drop until September but in the meantime check out some in the studio footage of their most likely single “Push And Shove” below.

This mashup is trill as fuck. A$AP Rocky‘s “Peso” and Purity Ring‘s “Obedear” mix together perfectly to create an epic song. The Hood Internet have been around for a while now, but this may be my favorite track by them yet. Listen to and download The Hood Internet’s “Pesobedear” below:

Also: Check out the dubstep remix to A$AP Rocky’s “Peso” below by Vaski. Vaski is an up and comer to the dubstep genre, but after checking out his Soundcloud I know now he is hella talented and picks great songs to remix:

Vacationer is the perfect spring time, feel good band for a shitty case of the Mondays. The mysteriously relaxing group creates chill indie rock filled with hip hop sampling and drums at times, while during other songs they’ll have vocal harmonies similar to Good Old War or Crosby, Stills and Nash. Also the frequently placed spacey, reverberated vocal harmonies and trip hop like production give the songs a more ambient/ trippy feel (Like Phantogram) and will easily make you nod your head. Vacationer is from Philadelphia, but besides that and the fact that Chet Faker, and Kenny Vasoli (Bass player/ Vocals for The Starting Line) are in the band, everything else is pretty unknown about the four. For example, who are the other two dudes in the band? If anybody has an idea on who they are let us know in our comments section asap. Check out the tight music video for Vacationer’s “Good As New” below, and listen to their debut album Gone for free on Spotify here now, and buy it on iTunes here!

Check them out on Soundcloud and Facebook

Sometimes I find myself aimlessly searching through soundcloud to find new material, and occasionally stumble across new material that sticks out to me. Earlier today, I located this mix by somebody who goes by The Wolf, who has a lot of talent with their mixes. The Forest mix, which can be listened below, offers a variety of tunes from Asap Rocky to Phantogram to Gucci Mane and so on. This mix is definitely worth a listen, check it out below.

In anticipation for next Thursday’s NFL draft, Gary Clark Jr. and Nas collabed / reworked Gary Clark Jr‘s song “Bright Lights” and created a sick NFL Draft-themed track. With talent like Gary Clark Jr on the guitar and Nas on the lyrics this song was bound to be ill. Even though “Bright Lights” was clearly only meant for the NFL draft it is still an awesome bluesy song filled with epic guitar and vocals by Gary Clark Jr. and raw lyricism by hip hop king, Nas. I wonder what a song would sound like if the two collabed just for the hell of it, probably ridiculously good, but regardless this song is dope. Listen to “Bright Lights” by Gary Clark Jr. feat. Nas below now and make sure to watch the NFL draft next Thursday at 8pm.

These three solid covers of classic tracks by Kid Cudi and the 90s R & B group Blackstreet (First tape i ever got growing up) are pretty dope, some better then others. Barbara sorta sounds like Jack Johnson at times, chill acoustic guitar with dope, almost hip hop like production to make the overall song awesome. Cool cover of Kid Cudi, MGMT, & Ratatat‘s classic track “Pursuit Of Happiness“. I really liked the Klaxons during middle school until they sort of disappeared, their cover of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” was pretty good, but personally i liked Chet Faker‘s version a lot better with its relaxing electronic feel. Check out all three covers below, which one was your favorite?

For the first time in 10 years, the post-hardcore band At The Drive-In reunited to play a show in Austin, Texas, their home state. Since 2001, the band parted ways to jump into two different projects, one being The Mars Volta, and the other being Sparta. The band plans to play at Coachella this year, one of the most notable music festivals in America today. Listen to a few of their older songs that were performed at the show below.

A trippy video filled with kids acting raw as hell, and a cliffhanger ending with Jack White almost blown to pieces; “Sixteen Saltines” is a music video off his debut solo project Blunderbuss. Almost the polar opposite of his last music video for “Love Interruption“. Awesome song, and a weirdly entertaining music video. So check out Jack White’s “Sixteen Saltines” below, as well as what he had to say about the music video:

Directed by AG Rojas, the video for “Sixteen Saltines” just premiered on VEVO and is a 180 degree turn from the previous “Love Interruption” video, eschewing that clip’s seductive palette for a magnification of the last frontier of urban wasteland and its dispossessed youth left to indulge any impulse. “Sixteen Saltines” seems to take place in a waking nightmare world outside of time or any kind of rule, a place you’d never want to live–but one you can’t stop visiting. -Jack White

I don’t know why, but this video is mad cool to me. Some artsy shit, its pretty much just a short video of A$AP Rocky smoking in slow motion with The Velvet Underground‘s “Pale Blue Eyes” in the background, never would I expect the combination of the two to mold together so perfectly, but they do. So check out Jake Davis’s new series of video portraits below, they were inspired by Andy Warhol’s Screen Test series, peep his first attempt below featuring that Pretty Motherfucker;
